What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900′s.

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words “Rei” (meaning universal), and “Ki” (meaning life energy). It has the same meaning as the word “Chi” in Chinese, or Prana in Sanskrit. This “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If our “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki works by re-filling areas that are lacking “life force energy” and removing blocks to energize the flow. These blocks and low areas of energy are created by illness, emotions, stress and trauma.

Reiki works mind, body, and spirit and can help the person receiving the Reiki on all levels to achieve inner balance. Reiki is like getting a wonderful, relaxing massage without the manipulation.
